This was stated by one of the 27 inmates in the Juvenile Penal Institute of Airola (BENEVENTO) at the end of a social lunch organized by the Campania guarantor of people subjected to restrictive measures of personal freedom Samuele Ciambriello together with the director of the institute Eleonora Cinque and the supervisory magistrate Margherita Di Giglio.“Every time I go to a juvenile institution – Ciambriello added – I think that beyond Mare Fuori there is a suspended youth, half-adolescents with death in their hearts, young fathers of sixteen and seventeen who enter prison even with serious crimes. But the data that scares me is the lack of awareness of the crime committed.
In the 80s and 90s, minors were considered by society as subjects in need of guidance and help, unfortunately in recent decades the climate has changed: young people at risk are considered, both by politicians and by the majority of people, as a threat to civil coexistence, therefore we have consequently witnessed a harshening of penalties”.
