Stefano De Martino from Castellammare di Stabia is the world champion of DOC pizza

Stefano De Martino is the winner of the ninth edition of the World Championship Pizza DOC 2024, while Diego Palladino, originally from Napoli but living in London, he has earned the title of best Italian pizza chef in the world.

The 2024 Pizza DOC World Championship, organized by the “Accademia Nazionale Pizza DOC” chaired by Antonio Giaccoli, took place from 13 to 15 November 2023 at the NEXT – Nuova Esposizione ex Tabacchificio in Capaccio – Paestum. De Martino expressed his joy for the recognition, declaring: “I am very happy to have received this award, it repays the efforts and sacrifices of a lifetime. A happiness too great that I can’t even express what I feel.”

Diego Palladino, on the other hand, won the award for “Best Italian Pizza Chef in the World”, dedicated to Italian pizza chefs living abroad. Antonio Giaccoli, enthusiastic about the success of the edition, highlighted the record participation of companies, visitors and competitors from all over the world, underlining the importance of the Academy and the Championship in enhancing “Made in Italy” and the role of the pizza chef on a global level. The Championship continues to be a springboard for emerging talents in the world of pizza.
