The financial police of the Faenza Company have executed four arrest warrants issued by the GIP of the Court of Ravenna against four individuals belonging to a criminal association that has gained undue advantage, causing damage of approximately 2 million euros to over 500 people residing in 13 Regions (Veneto, Trentino-Alto Adige, Tuscany, Sicily, Sardinia, Piedmont, Marche, Lombardy, Liguria, Lazio, Emilia-Romagna, Campania, Basilicata).
The operation is the result of a complex investigation that allowed to dismantle an association promoted by an individual from Ravenna. This group falsely offered to unsuspecting individuals the possibility to access funding from European Union bodies, including a partially non-repayable fund, to support both businesses and family needs. Although funding for a total of 50 million euros had been promised, the European funds were completely non-existent.
According to the investigation conducted by the military of the Faenza Company, the modus operandi of the association involved companies based in Rome, Viareggio and Cagliari. The victims were required to pay a fee to the bank accounts of these companies as payment for the investigation necessary to start the financing process.
This compensation, after being deducted from a share intended for individuals associated with the same companies, systematically ended up in the hands of the individual from Ravenna. The latter was found to be the owner of a company, issuing False invoices in order to hide the traces of the proceeds illegally obtained by the victims of the fraud. Sometimes the precarious financial situation of the victims was taken advantage of.
The fraudulent methods involved various situations, from requests for financing for real estate sales, where the victims had already concluded agreements counting on those additional resources, to requests for financing to deal with family liquidity crises, in which sometimes an additional initial loan was even stipulated to cover the investigation.
