The Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety of Naples met today at the Prefecture to take stock of the implementation status of the decree Caivano, launched by the government in 2022 to combat organized crime in the Neapolitan municipality.
During the meeting, it emerged that the Naples North prosecutor's office is about to issue 250 eviction orders for approximately 450 people who are illegally occupying public housing properties in Parco Verde, one of the most degraded areas of Caivano.
The Committee shared the need to structure a shared action plan for evictions, which takes into account the social and housing needs of the current occupants, with particular attention to situations of fragility. It was also hypothesized to provide a contribution for independent accommodation for those who decide to leave their homes spontaneously.
As for the other interventions foreseen by the Caivano decree, it was underlined that the redevelopment of the entire water network of the territory is under construction, and that local public transport has been strengthened. The Air Campania company has planned the establishment of three new lines within the municipality, while the Azienda Napoletana Mobilità has planned direct connections between the municipal territory and the High Speed stations of Afragola and Aversa.
The Extraordinary Commission of the Municipality has reassured about the activation, within 15 days, of the school transport service for students with disabilities.
As regards, instead, the requalification interventions of the schools, focused on energy efficiency, the problem arose that all the schools in the territory of Caivano, owned by the municipality, do not have either the testing or the energy certification, necessary requirements to start the interventions. The Extraordinary Commission of the Municipality has therefore announced that it has immediately taken action to obtain the certificates.
At the end of the meeting, the need to continue the ongoing monitoring activities on a periodic basis was shared.
