The weekend of February 16-18 saw 20 fatalities on Italian roads due to accidents, an identical number to the previous weekend.
Secondo the Asaps, Association of Supporters and Friends of the Highway Police, based in Forlì, the victims range in age from 16 to 87, with six people under 35. The victims include 9 motorists, 8 motorcyclists and three pedestrians.
Vehicle escapes without third-party involvement were the cause of 8 fatal accidents, while 9 occurred on state and provincial roads and one on a motorway.
The most affected regions were Lombardy and Puglia with 3 victims each, followed by Veneto, Lazio, Sicily and Campania with 2 victims each, and then Trentino-Alto Adige, Liguria, Emilia-Romagna, Umbria, Abruzzo and Basilicata with 1 victim per region.
