After the tragic episode of Fuorigrotta, in which a pitbull killed a poodle, another attack occurred in Casoria. A young woman's dog was injured by an off-leash pitbull in a local dog park.
This second incident has once again raised the question of the responsibility of dog owners to avoid similar tragedies. The young woman said that, despite having repeatedly asked the pitbull's owner to call his dog back, the attack occurred without anyone intervening.
Thanks to the girl's prompt action in protecting her dog, tragedy was only narrowly avoided. However, the dog's right shoulder injury was serious and required treatment. Deputy Francesco Emilio Borrelli and Casoria city councilor Salvatore Iavarone stressed the importance of respecting current regulations that require large dogs to wear a leash and muzzle.
Owners who disregard these rules, using dogs as symbols of criminal power, must be identified and punished, rather than hitting innocent animals. The request is clear: the responsibility falls on dog owners, who must be aware of the risks associated with managing potentially dangerous animals.
Only through greater awareness and compliance with the rules will it be possible to prevent further accidents and protect everyone's safety.
