In the middle of last night, an attempted vandalism targeted the famous mural of Jorit, recently at the center of controversy due to a photo with the Russian president Vladimir Putin. The news was confirmed by the artist himself, who reported the act this morning.
The still unknown perpetrators threw white paint on the mural and hung a Ukrainian flag on an adjacent balustrade. The mural, a public artwork, is located outside the Buchner State High School. Jorit, known for his mural creations, now finds himself at the center of a controversy that goes beyond the boundaries of art itself.
Local authorities are currently working to identify the perpetrators of this act of vandalism and bring them to justice. In the meantime, the community is questioning the need to protect freedom of artistic expression, even when the works provoke divergent reactions in society.
