For the first time accessible to visitors, the Baths have revealed fascinating painted surfaces hidden for a long time under thick concretions, thanks to the use of advanced technologies such as a latest-generation laser instrument.
Beneath a layer of limestone lay a significant part of the 4th style decoration, with coloured panels and a splendid decoration of plants and birds on a yellow background. The walls were covered with graffiti that told stories of those who frequented the baths, making this site a true archaeological treasure to explore.
The Baths will be open to the public every day with set hours, allowing entry to groups of up to 15 people at a time.
The entrance fee is €5 and includes a guided tour of the rooms. Reservations are recommended and on March 8, on the occasion of International Women's Day, admission is free for women. Along with the restoration of the Baths, protective works were carried out to preserve the site from deterioration, ensuring its conservation over time.
The Forum Baths, built after the establishment of the veterans' colony by Sulla, represent a precious part of Pompeii's archaeological heritage, with the women's section subject to continuous research and enhancement. During International Women's Day, there are also thematic visits to the Villa of Poppea in Oplontis, offering an immersion in the life of women of the Roman era and their care for beauty. A unique opportunity to discover the historical and cultural importance of these women in ancient society.
