The winners are: Gianluca Caporaso, Giordano Bruno Guerri and Barbara Stefanelli, and they will be read by over 10000 children from Italian schools and Italian schools around the world.
The 2024 edition of the Elsa Morante Prize is underway, this year ideally dedicated to “La Storia”, Morante’s novel that celebrates 50 years since its publication. The jury of the prestigious Prize, chaired by Dacia Maraini and composed of: Marco Cerbo, Enzo Colimoro, Lino Guanciale, David Morante, Tiuna Notarbartolo, Antonio Parlati, Fiorenza Sarzanini, Teresa Triscari, has unanimously decreed the three winning books of the sections of the Elsa Morante Ragazzi Prize, which will be read by thousands of young readers in Italy and around the world who make up the Morante network. It is “Il signor conchiglia” (we will never again leave the lives of children to the sea and to the night) (Salani). by Gianluca Caporaso who wins the “Elsa Morante Ragazzi Award – prose and poetry”, “History of the world, from the big bang to today” (La Nave di Teseo) by Giordano Bruno Guerri who wins the “Elsa Morante Ragazzi Award – History” and “Love harder, Iranian girls walk in front of us” (Solferino) by Barbara Stefanelli who wins the “Elsa Morante Ragazzi Award – for Social.
Around ten thousand kids from all over the world (including Albania, France, the United States, Russia, etc.) will be able to read them and choose their favorite book, which will win the additional Elsa Morante Schools Award.
For Italian and foreign reading groups it is still possible, until the end of March, to register to be part of this jury, by sending an email of membership to associazionepremioelsamorante@gmail.com.
A thousand young people will attend the final event live, which will be held on May 15 at the Rai Auditorium in Naples. For everyone else, it will be possible to follow the live broadcasts on the Facebook and Instagram channels of the Elsa Morante Award and Rai.
The Elsa Morante Award 2024 will be hosted by Alessandro Incerto and Tiuna Notarbartolo.
