The judges of the Assize Court of Milan have sentenced Alessia Pifferi to life imprisonment for the aggravated murder of her daughter Diana, only 18 months old, left to die of starvation in her crib.
The abandonment, which occurred between July 14 and 20, 2022, was charged with the aggravating circumstances of premeditation, frivolous motives and the parental bond with the daughter.
The sentence of the court presided over by Ilio Mannucci Pacini accepted the request of the prosecutor Francesco De Tommasi, who had asked for life imprisonment, although not recognizing the aggravating circumstance of premeditation.
In sentencing Alessia Pifferi for the murder of her daughter Diana, the judges excluded the aggravating circumstance of premeditation, along with the other charges, of futile motives and of having committed the crime against her minor daughter.
“I expected it. Alessia was very upset about her mother and sister's behavior, because they celebrated when the word life sentence was pronounced.
There is nothing to celebrate here,” said Alessia Pontenani, Alessia Pifferi’s lawyer, commenting on this morning’s sentence against her client.
