Two criminals of Napoli were identified by the Flying Squad of the Padua Police Headquarters. They are a 61-year-old and a 68-year-old, both already known to the police. The two men are accused of having defrauded a jeweler in Padua last October, stealing two Rolex of the value of 12.000 euro.
The main scammer had introduced himself at the jewelry store as a waiter from a local restaurant, wearing a maître d' apron. He had shown interest in a woman's watch in the window and, when the jeweler refused to accept his valuables in exchange, he had offered to leave an envelope containing money and a bracelet as a pledge.
In reality, the envelope had been replaced with an identical one but containing only counterfeit banknotes. jeweler, not realizing the exchange, had handed the watches over to the scammer. Only after seeing him get into a car that was speeding away did he realize he had been the victim of a scam.
The investigation by the Flying Squad led to the identification of the fraudster, nicknamed the “cook” for his habit of wearing catering uniforms during his crimes. The man had already carried out or attempted to carry out similar scams Milan, Bologna, Rimini and Mestre.
