Extortion
The core of the clan's criminal activity was extortion, with intimidating methods and threats of very serious reprisals, such as kidnapping the victims' children. The demands for protection money were heavy, as demonstrated by the case of a businessman from San Marzano sul Sarno forced to pay 70 thousand euros, and of a funeral home blackmailed for the same amount.
The threats and the role of Rosario Giugliano
To instill even more terror in the victims, the clan did not hesitate to put the entrepreneurs in contact with the boss Rosario Giugliano, at the time detained in the prison of Syracuse, via video calls. A clear and brutal message about the power of the clan in the Agro Nocerino.
Drug trafficking and other illicit activities
In addition to extortion, the clan was also active in the profitable drug trafficking, with control of several drug dealing areas. Other illegal activities included robberies and illegal possession of weapons.
Arrests and seizures
The operation led to the arrest of 23 people, including the alleged heads of the clan, Felice Aquino and Domenico Galasso, accused of mafia association.
