Caserta. A 44-year-old man from Casagiove was arrested last night by Carabinieri officers from the Caserta Carabinieri Mobile Radio Unit for drug dealing. The operation took place on Via Isonzo, Caserta, during a routine patrol.
The attention of the Carabinieri was drawn to the exchange of a €50 note between the man, sitting in a Mercedes A-Class, and another 48-year-old man, on foot, outside the car.
When the soldiers arrived, the two attempted to hide the banknote and the drugs, but in vain.
During the search, the man driving the Mercedes, with a specific criminal record, was found in possession of 380 euros in cash, a small bag of cocaine and two other small bags of cocaine found on the ground near the car, presumably dropped during the search.
At home he also had other drugs and 2170 euros
The subsequent house search led to the seizure of two further doses of drug, one of cocaine and one of hashish, a precision scale, sachets for packaging and the cash sum of 2.170,00 euros.
The arrested man was taken to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison, while the buyer was reported to the Prefecture of Caserta.
