Castellabate becomes a stage for water sports: swimming and kayaking between June and July

Cilento is transformed into a natural stage for water sports with the highly anticipated competitions ARTISTIC at sea and the gathering of kayak, all included in the “Nautical Sports in Cilento” billboard.

It starts with “Pagaiando per il Cilento”, an international tourist gathering for canoes and kayaks, scheduled for June 14 to 16, in the stretch of sea between the municipalities of Pollica, Montecorice and Castellabate. The initiative, in memory of Salvatore Gaudiano and now in its 15th edition, is organized by the Salerno kayak associations in collaboration with Gianni De Luca. The packed program includes, in addition to sailing in one of the most beautiful stretches of the Campania coast, a welcome Cilento dinner and a visit to the Museo Vivo del Mare in Pioppi.

Following, on June 29th and 30th, the waters of castellabate will be crossed by swimmers, ready to compete in a course that highlights the extraordinary beauty of the Cilento coast. The Circolo Nautico Punta Tresino and the Centro Sportivo Educativo Nazionale have organized an international open water swimming competition that will be held on Saturday 29 June (17.30:XNUMX p.m., start of the first race) in the body of water in front of the Lago hamlet.

The competition will range from beginners to masters over distances ranging from 200 meters to a nautical mile (1852 m). The main event of the weekend will be the “Gran Fondo di Nuoto in Acque Libere” in the Gulf of Castellabate, a 15 km race that will be held on Sunday 30 June (starting at 7 am) starting from Baia Arena di Montecorice and arriving at the Lago hamlet, after swimming in the heart of the protected marine area.

At the same time, on the same day, the Campania Regional Committee of the Italian Sports Center, in collaboration with the CSI Cilento Area Center, the “AquAria” APD Sports Club and the Punta Tresino Nautical Club, organized the first edition of the National Open Water Swimming Championship. The categories range from Beginners to Masters over distances ranging from 400 to 3000 meters. The competition field will always be set up in the Lago district.

Finally, Long Distance Swimming will return to be the protagonist on the weekend of July 6 and 7 with the races organized by the Circolo Nautico Punta Tresino in collaboration with the Asd Peppe Lamberti Nuoto Club. Saturday July 6 (starting at 10 am) starts with the 3000 meter Mezzofondo with start and finish on the beach between the La Pagliarella beach resort and the Residence La Perla Bianca. In the afternoon, then, at 18 pm, the first day of swimming ends with the Mezzofondo Sprint (1852 m).

The program ends on Sunday 7 July (departure at 10 am) with the “Swimming Crossing of the Gulf of Castellabate” of 5000 meters starting from the sea in front of the port of San Marco di Castellabate and arriving at the Lago hamlet. Finally, on Sunday 14 July there will be space for youth water polo with a tournament that will be held in the Lago area with the involvement of the Dream Team Salerno and other sports clubs.
