Surveillance cameras have helped reconstruct what happened to Mario Carotenuto, the 35-year-old found lifeless on the night between Saturday and Sunday in Angri.
Carotenuto, nicknamed “o' guerra”, was killed around 3 am with a 9mm gunshot to the right leg, which caused him to bleed to death and subsequently suffer cardiac arrest. And before that he had been savagely beaten with a baseball bat.
The Carabinieri have arrested the two people suspected of being the perpetrators of the murder: Pasquale Milo, a 44-year-old already known to the police and owner of the “Okompà” restaurant in via di Mezzo nord. Marius Naculai Nicuta, a 31-year-old Romanian known in the city as “Mario”, a collaborator of Milo.
Motive and dynamics
The investigative hypothesis is of homicide aggravated by premeditation and futile motives. According to the investigators, Milo and Nicuta would have planned the murder waiting for the closing of their place.
Then they would have positioned themselves in via Giudici to wait Carotenuto. They would have followed him to Via Risi, an isolated street at that time, and there they would have hit him first with the baseball bat and then with a gunshot to the legs.
The Carabinieri recovered the gun used in the murder, which was stolen and had a punched serial number, illegally held by Milo. In addition, a baseball bat was also found in Nicuta's possession.
The investigations are being conducted by prosecutor Michele Migliardi and chief prosecutor Antonio Centore of the Nocera Inferiore Prosecutor's Office. The two arrested are in prison awaiting trial.
