A drama turned into an act of heroism last Tuesday in Licola, when a retired carabiniere saved two little girls from the clutches of the rough sea.
According to the New Carabinieri Union, the protagonist of the action is a soldier of the Arma serving at the Carabinieri Command of the Bank of Italy, 3rd Surveillance Section of Rome.The timely intervention of the officer, whose name has not been disclosed, occurred after the young women found themselves in difficulty due to the sea currents. Without hesitation, the carabiniere jumped into the water to save them. “The colleague without thinking dived in to rescue the two girls who were at the mercy of the currents”, declared the New Union Carabinieri in a statement.
The trade union expressed gratitude towards the carabiniere, underlining that such heroic gestures are the order of the day for many men and women of the Carabinieri, who daily put their lives at risk for the safety and good of the community.
