An explosion followed by a fire has unleashed chaos in Naples, generating a gigantic column of black smoke visible throughout the city.

Details of the Accident in Naples

The accident occurred today, Wednesday 17 July 2024, around 15:00. According to information collected by Fanpage.it, the fire broke out near the Martinelli trucking company, located in the Ponticelli district, in the eastern industrial area of Naples. Several firefighter teams intervened on site along with 118 ambulances. At the moment, it is not yet clear whether there are any injuries.

Fire Brigade intervention

Currently, three firefighting teams are on the scene, operating with APS fire engines – including units 2/B, 9/B and 15/B from the Orientale, Ponticelli and Pianura detachments. Along with them are three ABP (Tank Tankers), mobilizing over 20 firefighters.

Situation Under Control

The fire appears to have started inside a warehouse of the Martinelli transport company, which contained clothing. The situation is currently under control.
