Torre Annunziata. “The sudden intervention of the Prefect of Naples, His Excellency Di Bari, following the shooting that occurred at the Lido Azzurro in Torre Annunziata, where two people with their faces covered burst into the establishment, firing several gunshots, spreading terror among the bathers, is certainly a reassuring signal, which registers an immediate response from the State.
Therefore, the Prefect informed me that in the next few hours he has convened a Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety, dedicated to the situation in Torre Annunziata.
I do not hide, however, that upon the dissolution of the municipal administration of Torre Annunziata due to mafia infiltration, I would have expected a major intervention by the Executive, already within the Caivano DL: as I have repeatedly highlighted in the Chamber, there is not just one Caivano but many Caivanos that, probably, have less media appeal but that equally need the support of the Government.
Therefore, it is now clear that a support strategy is needed for all those municipalities gripped by crime, a topic that I have addressed several times by filing numerous amendments that have been promptly rejected. I am thinking, for example, of the request for additional resources and in derogation from local finances that I have been calling for some time with the aim of strengthening the urban police force with extraordinary hiring.
Or to the appeal to redevelop, as soon as possible, the area after the demolition of Palazzo Fienga. Furthermore, another issue not to be underestimated is the close connection between legality and work, which is why I have long requested the integration into the workforce of the new commercial tourist hub Maximall in Pompeii of the workers who have left the production cycle that the Campania Region has ignored until now.
As well as greater support for young workers who have worked for the former Spolette Military Plant. However, it is unfortunate to note that the requests that I have been making for some time, rightly echoed in these hours by the current Administration, have not received the support of the Executive that acts more and more in a concluding manner rather than along the path of prevention.
For this reason, this week I will bring the case to Parliament, asking for a concrete response from the Government, and therefore a deployment of means, men and economic resources, so that certain things never happen again".
Thus, in a note, the M5S Senator Orfeo Mazzella.
