A Palermo, an episode of vandalism has shocked the Zisa neighborhood. A young man removed a bench from a public area and fled on a motorcycle scooter. This gesture was promptly documented by a resident through a video shot with her smartphone and immediately spread through the Facebook group “Quartiere Pulito”.

Intervention by the Authorities

Images of the theft went viral on social media, prompting authorities to intervene quickly. City Councilor Fabrizio Ferrandelli said: "We will replace the bench, but I am confident that the previous one can be recovered and put back. I have already filed a complaint."

Bench Recovery

Thanks to the timely report and the shared video, the Carabinieri located the stolen bench in the Danisinni area. The investigations of the military of the Arma, facilitated by the images on social media, allowed them to track down the person responsible for the theft. The bench was returned to the councilor Fabrizio Ferrandelli, who informed the citizens through a post on Facebook.
