Acerra hosts the “Spaces for Theatre” festival
The debut of the first edition of the festival “From theatre in space to spaces for theatre” is underway in Acerra, with a packed programme of theatre and music events under the artistic direction of Ferdinando Smaldone and Giuseppe Cerrone, and the musical direction of Luigi Casa and Donato Barbato. The festival, organised by APS Recitar(t)e, aims to take theatre out of institutional venues and return it to the community.
End of September programming
The festival, which opened on September 23 with a painting exhibition dedicated to Pulcinella in its female version curated by Pina Candileno, continues on September 28 with the show “EL ROMANCERO DE LAZARILLO” by Luca Gatta, which will be performed at 18:30 pm at the Castello dei Conti. The following day, September 29, it will be Luca Rossi’s turn with the concert “PULLECENELLA LOVE”, at the sources of the Riullo at 18:30 pm.
A journey from tradition to contemporary dramaturgy
The central theme of the festival is Pulcinella, a symbolic mask of the theater and strongly linked to the city of Acerra. The program, which will last until November 28, includes a series of events ranging from theater performances, concerts, exhibitions, presentations, workshops to shows for children. The aim is to attract a new audience, bringing theater to unconventional places such as gardens, hallways, streets, squares and terraces.
Thematic weeks
The second week of the festival, from October 7 to 13, will be dedicated to Raffaele Viviani and Eduardo De Filippo, with a series of recitals, workshops, performances and podcasts. On October 12, Azul will perform in concert, while on October 13 it will be the turn of the show “VIVIANI IN LOVE” with Lalla Esposito and Massimo Masiello. From October 21 to 27, the third week will be dedicated to the Neapolitan fairy tale, from Giambattista Basile to Manlio Santanelli, who will present his book and the new show “CE STEVE TRE VVOTE”. The singer-songwriter Pasqa' will perform in concert on October 26. The fourth week, from November 4 to 10, will focus on the drama of the 9s and 10s, with Francesco Di Bella’s concert on November 18 and the show “SCANNASURECE” by Enzo Moscato on November 28. The fifth and final week, from November 21 to 25, will highlight the new Neapolitan drama scene. On November XNUMX, Flo’s reading-concert will be held, while on November XNUMX, the show “JAM SESSION TEATRALE SULLA DRAMATURGIA CONTEMPORANEA” will conclude the festival.
A reflection on the public and the theatre
The festival was born from a reflection on the evolution of the theater audience, which has distanced itself in part due to the spread of new technologies and forms of entertainment. Ferdinando Smaldone, one of the artistic directors, emphasizes the importance of bringing theater back to the people, using contaminations with other art forms such as music, painting, writing and photography to attract new spectators.
Collaborations and sponsorship
The “Spazi per il teatro” festival is promoted by APS Recitar(t)ee Teatro Rostocco, with the support of the Municipality of Acerra and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage.
