The prosecutor of Naples, Henry John Woodcock, has requested heavy sentences for Danilo Iervolino, owner of Salernitana, and Francesco Cavallaro, general secretary of Cisal, accused of corruption in relation to an agreement that would have favored the split of a patronage.
According to the prosecution, in 2019, in exchange for the favorable opinion of the Ministry of Labor on the split of the Encal-Inpal patronage, Cavallaro allegedly obtained the hiring of his son at the Pegaso Telematic University, then owned by Iervolino.
The hiring would have been a clear economic benefit for the public official's family.
The prosecutor requested five years of imprisonment for Cavallaro, four and a half years for Iervolino and other penalties for the other defendants, while he asked for the acquittal of the lawyer Fimmanò.
The investigations revealed a series of favors exchanged between the two, confirming a corrupt agreement. However, some wiretaps were deemed unusable due to a recent ruling by the Court of Cassation.
The judge for the preliminary hearing will rule at the end of October. The trial is being held with the abbreviated rite which provides for a reduction of sentence.
