QFour ultras were identified and fined by the State Police for lighting smoke bombs during the Catania-Benevento match, played last September 2 at the “Angelo Massimino” stadium. The episode occurred in the south curve sector, where the lit smoke bombs created a dangerous situation for the other spectators present.
The Digos, through its “fans” team, started an investigation using the images from the stadium’s video surveillance system, supported by those made by the Scientific Police agents. By cross-referencing the data with the identification reports recorded at the turnstiles, the investigators managed to identify four supporters belonging to the organized groups of the south curve.
The perpetrators were reported for possession and lighting of fireworks during sporting events. Following further investigations conducted by the Anti-Crime Police Division, the police chief of Catania has issued a Daspo order against them, which prohibits access to all sporting events and the surrounding areas intended for the parking and transit of fans.
