On the occasion of the celebrations for San Gennaro and the expected influx of tourists to Napoli, the Municipality has decided to strengthen some services to improve reception, transport, hygiene and safety in the city.
For the reception, 10 tutors, easily recognizable with hat and bib, will be present in the street, at the Duomo, in the most frequented places and in the central station. These tutors will provide information, directions and distribute informative material daily from 10 to 19.
As usual, the 4 infopoints at Molo Angioino, Piazza del Gesù, Via Cesario Console and Via Morghen will be open every day from 10am to 19pm. There are 8 permanent toilets available in Piazza Trieste e Trento and 2 mobile ones in Piazza del Gesù.
As for transportation, information and assistance to travelers will be strengthened in the points of greatest tourist influx. On weekends, the Metro Line 1 will extend its service until late evening (on Friday and Saturday the last ride from Piscinola is at 01:20, from Garibaldi at 01:32).
The Alibus service, which connects the Port-Central Station-Airport, will be strengthened with three new vehicles, increasing from 12 to 15 buses. On trains, funiculars and Alibus it will be possible to use Tap&Go, paying by credit card or debit card without needing a ticket.
Until September 29, taxis will continue to follow the new experimental shift system, which has already led to a substantial increase in the number of taxis in circulation.
For urban hygiene, the service of emptying bins and the rearrangement of street equipment will be increased, with further interventions in the most frequented areas during the long weekend.
Additional manual and mechanical sweeping services are planned in the historic and commercial center, washing of streets and bins in pedestrian areas, sidewalks and squares, also with the use of sanitizing products, especially in the areas of the central station, the historic center and in commercial areas.
Finally, for security, the Local Police will increase its presence with 60 additional units, intensifying controls against illegal street vendors and along the tourist routes of the center and the shopping streets, with targeted interventions also on traffic and the smooth running of events.
