In Colombia, the escape attempt of the Camorrista Luigi Belvedere was foiled. Arrested on October 25, Belvedere was transferred today from the prison of Medellin to that of Bogota, after the police discovered an escape plan organized with the help of a local clan.
According to the Chief of Police, General William Salamanca, Belvedere allegedly offered 750 thousand dollars to members of the Clan del Golfo, one of the main drug cartels in Colombia.
The plan was that Belvedere he faked an illness to be transferred to hospital and was freed along the way by a Gulf Clan commando.
The boss, arrested a few days after another prominent member of the Camorra, Gustavo Nocella, was then transferred by plane to Bogota, where he will remain awaiting extradition requested by the anti-mafia prosecutor of Naples.
Sentenced to 18 years for international drug trafficking, Belvedere is considered one of the mediators, together with Nocella, between the Colombian cartels and the Casalesi clan.
