Youth Crime: Cerbone's Film in Nisida to Stop Youth Violence – Stefano Cerbone's film "Nati pre-giudicati" (Born Before the Judgment) will be screened tomorrow in Nisida, spotlighting the prevention and rehabilitation of at-risk youth. Cerbone, a director and entrepreneur, addresses the tragedy of lives shattered, like those of young men Emanuele Tufano and Santo Romano, recently killed in youth violence.
Made with the collaboration of inmates, the film stimulates a deep reflection on juvenile deviance and the importance of early recovery, before kids get close to crime. The work has a cast of prominent Italian actors, including Gigi Savoia and Marina Suma, and puts the discomfort experienced by kids with absent families at the center of the debate, pushing them to reflect on the role of parents and the consequences of their choices.
The screening of the film "Born Pre-Judged" will be followed by a discussion among justice institutions and professionals, with the aim of raising public awareness and promoting a more compassionate and preventative approach towards young people in difficulty.
“When I met the guys from the IPM of Nisida during the workshop – explains Cerbone – I asked them among the various questions why they had chosen the path of crime. They all answered me: “because of the suffering experienced at home and my father was absent, because he was in prison”.
Such a high percentage of “father-figure orphans” who commit crimes to react to a sense of emptiness, abandonment and other feelings that they cannot name because they do not possess the tools, forces us to ask ourselves: what if, instead of judging, we could listen to those who end up committing crimes?
Our goal must be to raise awareness among civil society and institutions, so that we can prevent the malaise that drives these kids towards their first crime – adds the director – For this reason, through the message of the film we want to make people understand the suffering and discomfort in which many young people in our city sink, from the center to the outskirts, who, without realizing it, destroy their lives”.
A new project is in the works that has precisely this purpose: «It is called “The origins of evil” and will see the collaboration of young prisoners who – with the help of psychologists, criminologists, teachers, writers and magistrates – will try to give answers to the many problems of adolescence that push them into the abyss». In addition to Stefano Cerbone, tomorrow in Nisida, the president of the Juvenile Court of Naples Paola Brunese and the magistrate Gemma Tuccillo will meet the young prisoners.
