Rome. “We had a round table on the topic of the congress, the one concerning the planning, the need and also the programming, because unfortunately in Healthcare lacks precisely these three elements.

Sustainability was also suggested to me, but we cannot discuss this, it is up to politics to make healthcare as sustainable as possible". This was stated by the Secretary General of the Assoprof, Antonio , on the sidelines of the round table organized on the occasion of the 56th national congress Sumai Assoprof, underway in Rome.

“It was a very important day,” he continued, “and the round table was attended by leading figures in the sector. The centrality of outpatient specialists clearly emerged from this meeting: we are finally starting to talk strongly about this category, which is the real solution for waiting lists and patient care.

Finally, it has been understood that we need to move from a performance-based part to a management part, because in this way we automatically reduce the interventions in the emergency room that are not appropriate and, at the same time, we are also able to manage the waiting lists, because clearly we remove part of the patients, often chronic, by taking them directly into management”.

“This,” the general secretary of Sumai Assoprof was keen to underline, “becomes fundamental for the category but also for citizens, because it protects a population that is clearly becoming increasingly older.”

“We will also focus on this aspect - he also said - in my afternoon report, after all I have already mentioned it in the round table, that is, the importance of removing incompatibility, a discussion that is anachronistic today because it limits the professional part, limits all the specialists available to reduce the waiting lists”.

“The other main thing, which is now our 'mood' - concluded Magi - is decriminalization, which would also free up economic resources, about 13 billion a year that could be invested in personnel, the center of the entire current system.

We have money for the facilities, for the equipment but we no longer have any for the staff, and without staff there is no healthcare and therefore the health of citizens cannot be guaranteed, as instead stated in Article 32 of the Constitution”.
