Arzano. New municipal council: the new councilor Marianna Borrelli speaks. “Productive Activities, Equal Opportunities and Confiscated Goods, my commitment to “service of the city”. The establishment of an Anti-racket desk is being evaluated.
Arzanse doc, lawyer and legal consultant at Bmti, Marianna Borrelli has decided to accept the challenge and take to the field to give new life to the municipal administration led by the mayor Cinzia Aruta who, after a round of consultations with the majority parties, has decided to appoint her as councilor with responsibility for SUAP, Equal Opportunities, Productive Activities and Confiscated Assets.
“These are certainly interesting and challenging delegations that cover sectors of notable importance and, as regards the delegation to equal opportunities, I will commit to promoting initiatives aimed at reducing discrimination and inequalities that are unfortunately still too present today, and above all to raise awareness in the community”.
For the one-stop shop for productive activities (Suap), he reiterates his desire to create a synergy with the competent office and with trade associations to find optimal solutions in the interest of the country.
Another sensitive sector entrusted to Borrelli is that relating to the management of confiscated assets taken from organised crime, in which his predecessor, Giuseppe Vitagliano, saw his commitment translate into facts with the assignment of the multi-storey villa in via Compagna and some premises in via Alberto Barone.
“The management of confiscated assets – Borrelli specifies – , as we all know, it is a problem that afflicts the entire nation. Some properties in our country have already been assigned, for the others in the process of being assigned we will certainly start calls for tenders and discussions with associations only after having carefully evaluated and studied each individual case. As regards the establishment of an anti-racket counter, it will certainly be the object of evaluation by the entire Municipal Council”.
However, there are still several that have been unused since 2004, including a commercial space in Via C. Colombo, a warehouse in Via A. Volpicelli, an apartment in Via Barletta and a mega space in Corso D'Amato, which was the target of a fire in recent years.

The idea of an anti-racket desk is interesting, but I hope it is well managed. The issue of confiscated assets is complex and we need to pay attention to how they are assigned. Transparency is needed.
Yes, I agree. It is important that new initiatives are well structured to avoid misunderstandings and problems in the future. Let's hope the council does a good job on these issues.
