A lawyer from the Avellino Bar Association is at the centre of a judicial investigation for alleged fraud against a telephone company, after having collected over 35mila euros through settlement agreements based on false powers of attorney. The lawyer would have presented multiple summonses on behalf of several users, all seeking compensation for the unlawful processing of personal data.

However, the special powers of attorney used to conclude at least two transactions were found to be falsified. Following the complaint of the telephone company, the investigations conducted by the Benevento Prosecutor's OfficeIn partnership with Guardia di Finanza e Carabinieri, led to the seizure of the sum on a current account of the lawyer at an Irpinia credit institution.

The judicial authorities have ascertained that the customers cited in the cases had disavowed the signatures affixed both on the special powers of attorney attached to the documents and on the documents conferring the legal assignment. GIP of the Court of Avellino had already validated a first seizure, subsequently reiterated at the request of the Benevento Prosecutor's Office by GIP of the Sannio Court. The lawyer was formally charged for fraud and investigations are ongoing to verify the possible involvement of other individuals or further similar episodes.
