Gragnano. A clandestine depot of firecrackers and explosive material was discovered by the Carabinieri in a garage located in via Madonna delle Grazie, between buildings and shops. Father and son, respectively 55 and 23 years old, were arrested by the military of the operational section of Castellammare di Stabia.
In the room, which lacked any security measures, hundreds of items for the manufacture of fireworksthe illegals: 28 “onions”, enough to destroy the entire box, 204 “wolves”, a “rendino” and 1170 pressed cardboard cylinders ready to be filled with gunpowder.
The entire load was seized and handed over to the bomb disposal experts of the Provincial Command of Naples for safety and disposal.
The arrested, now under house arrest, will have to answer to the charge of illegal possession of explosive material. The operation represents a hard blow to the clandestine trade of dangerous firecrackers, which every year puts public safety at risk.
