Starting January 1, 2025, tolls on Italian motorways will increase by 1,8%, as announced by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. This increase is in line with the expected rate of inflation for the new year and will involve the 2.800 kilometers of network managed by Autostrade per l'Italia, including the sections that pass through Campania.
In particular, on the A3 Naples-Salerno motorway, managed by the concessionaire Salerno-Pompei-Napoli Spa, the increase will be slightly lower, corresponding to 1,67%. The Ministry confirmed that the other 22 motorway concessionaires in the country will not undergo any changes.
Support measures for motorists
Autostrade per l'Italia has accepted the Ministry's request to keep general discounts for motorists active. If these discounts had been eliminated, there would have been an overall increase of 3%, further increasing the economic burden for users.
Impact in Campania
Also the main highways in Campania managed by Autostrade per l'Italia will be affected by the increases, including the Naples-Salerno axis. Although not significant, these increases will be felt on the finances of motorists, already struggling with the high costs of fuel and vehicle maintenance.
The increase in planned inflation continues to impact the motorway sector, but the Ministry has assured that the measures adopted are aimed at reconciling the maintenance needs of the network with the safety of users.
Here is the list of motorways subject to toll increases in Campania:
– A1 motorway (Autostrada del Sole) Naples-Milan
– A3 Naples-Salerno motorway
– A16 Motorway (Two Seas Motorway) Naples-Canosa
– A30 Caserta-Salerno motorway

I honestly don't know if this toll increase is fair or not, but I think people are already suffering from the price increase in general. Alternative solutions should be found to not burden motorists.
