Carlo Parodi, President of Assomusica, reported to the Culture Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, during the discussions on the bill for the conversion of the decree-law of 27 December 2024 regarding urgent measures in the cultural field.
Participation and Simplification
During the hearing, Parodi highlighted the success of the previous year for the live music, with events that have seen high participation, especially among young people and in small village communities. He praised Article 7, paragraph 2, of the Culture Decree for the simplification of the procedures for shows through communication in SCIA, arguing that this rule has encouraged municipalities to promote cultural events, with benefits for the local economy. Parodi proposed to extend its effectiveness, increasing the maximum number of participants allowed to 2.500.
Countering Secondary Ticketing
Another key point discussed was the fight against secondary ticketing, which he defined as a problem that damages the live music sector and penalizes consumers. Parodi recalled the collaboration with the Guardia di Finanza and AGCOM, but requested more incisive regulatory tools to stem this speculative practice.
Promotion of Culture among Young People
The President stressed the importance of measures to promote cultural consumption among young people, citing “The Merit and Culture Charters” as key tools. He urged the Government to ensure stable resources to enhance access to culture for new generations.
Finally, Parodi put forward a proposal to further support the live entertainment sector through the introduction of a tax credit for the production and organization of shows, including those with fewer than 5.000 spectators, as a concrete signal to live music entrepreneurs.
