NAPLES – From today, anyone travelling on the Circumvesuviana you will be able to see them printed on the walls of the station Piazza Garibaldi the faces of Antonio Metafora, Giorgio Ambrosoli, Fulvio Croce and Enzo Fragalà, four lawyers who lost their lives in the exercise of their profession.

The initiative was presented this morning at the station EAV of Porta Nolana on the occasion of the event “No justice without lawyers”, promoted for the Lawyers in Danger Day. Maria Rosaria Covelli, president of the Court of Appeal of Naples, underlined the value of the day.
“It is a recognition that honors lawyers killed in the performance of their duties and who have embodied principles of dignity, sense of duty and fidelity to their mandate”. Covelli then added that the initiative is not only a moment of reflection, but an opportunity to pay homage to those who have defended justice with courage, leaving a message to the new generations.
During the event, the President also remembered female lawyers killed for their commitment to defending rights: Ebru Timtic, a Turkish lawyer who fought for a fair trial, and Digna Ochoa, Mexican lawyer committed to protecting the rights of indigenous communities. “A moment to remember these legal heroes”, concluded Covelli, praising the great sensitivity demonstrated by the Naples Bar Association.
Institutions and relatives of the victims were present
The event was introduced by the President of the Naples Forum, Carmine Foreste, and saw the participation of numerous personalities from the legal and institutional world. Among the speakers Umberto De Gregorio, president of Eav; Francesco Greek, president of the National Forensic Council; Francis Caia, vice-president of the International Observatory of Lawyers; Mario Morcone, Councillor for Legality of the Campania Region.
The Attorney General of the Court of Appeal of Naples also intervened, Aldo Policastro, the President of the Council of the Bar Association of Palermo, Dario Greco, and representatives of the Bar Associations of Milan and Turin. Also present are the families of the victims, who shared the memory and sacrifice of their loved ones.

The initiative to remember lawyers who lost their lives is very important, but it is sad that there is a need to do these things. I hope that people remember the sacrifice and the value of justice in a serious way.
