Tomorrow and Sunday 2 February, the Don Peppe Diana theatre in Portici hosts a show that brings the ancient mime of Pompeii back to the stage thanks to the choreographer Erminia Sticchi and the Art factory Skaramacay.
The event
Titled “Novella e le altre,” it highlights the history and importance of these professional actresses in an era when the stage was almost exclusively the domain of men. Mimae of Pompeii between history and entertainment Drawing inspiration from the dedications and inscriptions found in Pompeii, Sticchi uses contemporary dance to transport the mimae into the present.
Performers Imma Tammaro, Marica Cimmino, Amina Arena, Emanuela Milo, Naomi Balsamo, Amalia Caiazza and Annalisa Limardi bring to life a performance that explores the social role of mimae in ancient Rome, figures suspended between everyday life and acting.
A show of emotions and cultural heritage In “Novella e le altre”, through dance, music and prose, we try to reawaken ancient emotions buried under the ashes of Vesuvius. The stories of love, art and passion of the mimae emerge for the first time from the historical ashes, offering a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in a past that continues to excite. Tickets, at a cost of 15 euros, are available online on the Etes website.
