Avellino – Two abandoned goats were found by the Carabinieri of the forestry unit of Avellino inside a condominium square in the centre of the Irpinia capital.
The animals, visibly malnourished and dehydrated, had been tied with a rope to the fence of the yard. The rescue operation was conducted with the support of a veterinarian from the ASL Avellino, who intervened on site to check the health of the two goats. Having ascertained the situation of serious distress, the animals were seized and entrusted to the care of a suitable person.
The investigations of the Carabinieri allowed them to trace the owner and keeper of the animals, a 50-year-old local man, who was reported at large to the Avellino Prosecutor's Office for abandonment of animals.
