Tenerife – There is a mystery surrounding the death of Gianluca Volpe, a 27-year-old originally from Naples but who has lived in the province of Arezzo for years, whose body was found in circumstances that are still unclear on the island of Tenerife.
The death, which occurred last weekend, emerged only in the last few hours and was reported by the newspaper La Nazione.
The consulate in Arona reported the case to the Italian Carabinieri, who informed the family and are collaborating with the Spanish authorities to shed light on the matter. The Spanish judiciary has ordered an autopsy to determine the precise cause of death. An initial examination of the body did not reveal any signs of violence, but the circumstances remain shrouded in mystery and all hypotheses are still open.
Volpe, born in July 1997 in Naples, lived in Tegoleto, a small town in Val di Chiana, near Arezzo. He had been in the Canary Islands for a few days, but it is not yet clear whether the trip was for work or leisure. The authorities are investigating to reconstruct the young man's last movements and understand the dynamics of his death.
