They were traveling along the Autostrada del Sole with over 30.000 euros in counterfeit banknotes hidden in their car, but their nervousness gave them away: the State Police of Arezzo arrested two men of Neapolitan origin on the morning of Saturday, March 8, even if the news was only released today.
The check was carried out during a routine patrol by the Highway Police officers of Arezzo-Battifolle and Ponte a Poppi. The two patrols stopped a Fiat Panda headed north, with the two suspects on board. From the start, their behavior aroused the officers' suspicions: they appeared excessively agitated and gave contradictory answers about the reason for their trip.
Determined to investigate further, the officers searched the vehicle, discovering a total of 602 50-euro notes behind the glove compartment. Checks with a Wood's lamp confirmed that the notes were counterfeit, lacking the required security features. The two men, already known to the police from previous reports, were immediately arrested and transferred to prison.

The news of two men arrested for having counterfeit banknotes is very interesting, but I wonder why they tried to hide the money. I don't understand if there are more severe laws for these crimes.
