"Souls in Storm – Traveling with Poets," presented by the Alessandro Scarlatti Association and under the patronage of President Oreste de Divitiis, will make its world premiere at the Teatro Acacia in Naples. The event features Enzo Gragnaniello, the Solis String Quartet, and actress Cristina Donadio.

An Experience of Poetry and Music

The idea behind the show is an artistic fusion combining music, poetry, and storytelling. Tommaso Rossi, artistic director of Scarlatti, explains that the goal is to transport the audience through the writing of famous songwriters. The musical journey includes songs by legendary artists such as Jacques Brel, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, and Nick Cave, accompanied by an original narrative by Stefano Valanzuolo. Cristina Donadio will contribute her interpretations to the experience, adding depth and new meaning.

Songs and Translations

The concert will feature arrangements by Antonio Di Francia, with all songs performed in Italian. Existing versions of famous songs such as Rare Bird's "Sympathy," Paul Simon's "The Sound of Silence," and Violeta Parra's "Gracias a la Vida" will be used, along with translations and adaptations by Enzo Gragnaniello. The setlist will also include works such as The Doors' "Riders on the Storm" and Leonard Cohen's "Dance Me to the End of Love," reinterpreted to offer a new musical experience while preserving their original meaning. This project was brought to life by the Solis String Quartet, composed of Vincenzo Di Donna, Luigi De Maio, Gerardo Morrone, and Antonio Di Francia, along with Enzo Gragnaniello. After years of work, it now finds its full expression in this live show.
