Avellino - Fear on Mount Partenio for two hikers, a 64-year-old man and a 69-year-old man, who lost their bearings during an excursion.
The two had left in the morning from Pannarano, in the province of Benevento, with the aim of reaching the Irpinia side of the mountain. However, the sudden worsening of the weather conditions and the difficulty of the route led them to lose the path, blocking them in the “Porca delle Pere” area, in the municipality of Avella.
Fortunately, the two hikers managed to raise the alarm, contacting the rescue services. The search operations, conducted by the Alpine-speleological unit, lasted several hours due to the impervious area and adverse weather conditions. Finally, the rescuers managed to locate the two men and bring them to safety in the valley.
Once they reached the base, the hikers were entrusted to the 118 staff to receive the necessary care. Despite the misadventure, their health conditions were found to be good.
This episode highlights the importance of carefully planning mountain hikes, learning about weather conditions, and choosing routes that are appropriate for your abilities. It is also recommended to carry appropriate equipment and always communicate your itinerary to someone.

It was an interesting article but I think hiker safety is very important. We don't always think about the risks we can encounter in the mountains and therefore it is essential to have a plan and the right tools.
