SAN NICOLA LA STRADA (CE) – A couple of Georgian citizens were surprised by the Carabinieri after stealing hundreds of chocolate bars from a supermarket on Viale Carlo III di Borbone, on the outskirts of Caserta.
The total value of the stolen goods amounts to approximately 360 euros. The episode occurred yesterday evening, when the military personnel of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Company of Caserta, on patrol in the area, noticed the two suspects sneaking out of the supermarket with two large backpacks on their shoulders.
At the sight of the patrol, the couple tried to quickly drive away in their car, but were immediately stopped by the carabinieri, who blocked their path with their “gazzella” with its flashing lights on. The man, 36, already known to the police, and the woman, 31, immediately appeared nervous and intolerant of the control.
When the soldiers inspected the backpacks, they found a large quantity of chocolate inside, of various brands and types. Neither was able to provide a plausible explanation as to the origin of the goods, nor could they produce receipts proving their purchase.
Viewing the supermarket's video surveillance footage confirmed the suspicions: the couple had been filmed stealing goods from the shelves and walking past the checkout without paying for them. At the end of the identification procedures and after the reconstruction of the facts, the two were reported at liberty on charges of aggravated theft in competition. The stolen goods, fully recovered, were returned to the store manager.

It's incredible how people can steal chocolate, I don't understand why they can't buy it. Maybe the prices are too high? Anyway the law must take its course for those who commit crimes.
