Naples – A brutal attack, triggered by a trivial disagreement in the bathroom queue, turned into an episode of violence that bordered on tragedy.
Article Key Points
The protagonists, once again, are a group of very young people, armed and ready to use force for nothing. The Carabinieri of the Bagnoli Company, in the early hours of the morning, executed a precautionary custody order issued by the GIP of the Court of Naples at the request of the Neapolitan DDA.
They end up in handcuffs Antonio Izzo, 21 years old, Claudio Riccardo Garavini, 20 years old, and Alessandro Faraon, 19 years old, all residents of the Phlegraean area. Four other young people are being investigated with them, including a woman accused of having had video evidence of the attack deleted.
The dynamics: threats, beatings and gunshots
It was the night of February XNUMXst when, in a well-known nightlife venue Chiaia, a university student was celebrating his birthday. In front of the bathrooms, a line of young people was waiting for their turn. At that point, Anthony Izzo he allegedly jumped over the line, causing the student to complain. Izzo's reaction was immediate and disproportionate: he pulled a weapon from his jacket and pointed the gun at the boy's head, threatening him: “Do you want to see me shoot you in the head?”.
But it didn't end there. Izzo, according to the investigators' reconstruction, hit the victim with the butt of the gun, knocking him out. At that point, the group went wild: Garavini punched him in the head, while three other accomplices kicked him, always in the face and skull. The student, collapsed on the ground unconscious, was left in that condition while his attackers walked away.
But the violence did not stop inside the premises. Once outside, according to the investigations, it would have been Alexander Faraon to shoot two gunshots in the air, among the panicked crowd. An intimidating gesture, aggravated by the context: the DDA in fact contests the mafia method, with the intent of demonstrating strength and control of the territory.
The evidence: the videos and the concealment, a woman investigated
In addition to the witnesses, the three young men were nailed security camera images of the premises and the external ones, which filmed the entire scene. The investigations, coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate, they also revealed the attempted cover-up by a 37enne, a friend of the group, who allegedly had some of the footage deleted to protect the attackers.
The charges: aggravated assault and mafia intimidation
The three arrested are facing very serious charges:
- Izzo and Garavini they are under investigation for injuries aggravated by mafia methods;
- Faraon for public intimidation with the use of weapons, also aggravated by mafia methods.
The episode puts the spotlight back on youth violence at the centre of the news in Naples with increasing frequency, where apparently banal gestures degenerate into ruthless aggressions, often with firearms. Another night of madness, another worrying sign for a city that is struggling to free itself from the spiral of oppression.

It is really alarming to see how violence among young people is increasing so much. It should not be possible that an argument over the bathroom leads to such serious things. The police must intervene more.
