Naples – Video surveillance images, inside and outside a club in Chiaia, were crucial in framing three young men, believed to be responsible for a violent raid against a university student and an explosion of gunshots in the city center, in the heart of Neapolitan nightlife.
The attack took place inside one of the premises in the “baretti” area, crowded with young people during the weekend.
The three – aged between 19 and 22 – were arrested at dawn by the Carabinieri of the Naples-Bagnoli Company, in execution of a precautionary custody order issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Naples at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate.
Two are accused of injuries aggravated by mafia methods, while the third is under investigation for public intimidation with the use of weapons, also in this case aggravated by the mafia origin.
According to the investigators' reconstruction, it all started for trivial reasons: an argument, then threats and a gun pointed in the face of the victim, a university student who was celebrating his birthday.
Next, a violent beating inside the premises: the young man was hit on the head with the butt of the gun and kicked even after he collapsed to the ground unconscious, under the terrified eyes of the other customers who remained motionless.
But the fury didn't stop there. Once out of the club, in the middle of the Saturday night crowd, the three shot two gunshots at chest height, causing panic among those present, who fled. The images from a camera captured one of the attackers putting the weapon back in his pants, before running away.
The investigations, entrusted to the police of the Bagnoli Operations Unit and coordinated by the DDA, made it possible to trace those responsible thanks to the detailed analysis of the video surveillance footage and the testimonies collected from those present.
The investigation also highlighted the connection of those arrested with criminal circles active in the Pianura area, reinforcing the suspicion that the attack was not just an act of gratuitous violence, but a display of power in full Camorra style.

I read the article and it seems incredible to me how violence can manifest itself so brutally among young people. It is alarming to know that there are groups of young people willing to use weapons to resolve conflicts. We need to think seriously about security.
