An earthquake of magnitude 2.4 was recorded this morning, April 7, 2025, at 9:43 am, in the Campi Flegrei area, according to data provided by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV).
The earthquake, which occurred at a depth of 2,6 kilometers, had its epicenter located between the towns of Agnano and Astroni, near the Solfatara area, known for its geothermal activity.
This is not an isolated event: in the previous hours, between the night just passed and dawn, three other tremors of lesser intensity, with magnitudes between 1.2 and 1.4, had already shaken the Phlegraean territory.
After a period of relative calm, which had perhaps deluded residents into thinking there was a truce from seismic activity, the earth has once again made itself felt, rekindling fears and concerns in one of the most monitored volcanic areas in Italy.
This morning's shock, although not of high magnitude, was clearly felt not only in the entire area of Campi Flegrei, but also in some neighboring neighborhoods of Naples, such as Fuorigrotta and Bagnoli, where several citizens reported slight vibrations and a sense of uneasiness.
At the moment there are no reports of damage to property or people, but the event has inevitably brought attention to the fragility of a territory that has always lived in symbiosis with its restless subsoil.
Scientists continue to monitor the situation to assess whether these episodes represent a sign of an evolution in the supervolcano's activity or are part of the normal geological dynamics of the area.
Meanwhile, the population is growing anxious for official updates, while trying to live with a land that never ceases to remind us of its lively and unpredictable nature.
