The intervention, coordinated by the Metropolitan Area Inspectorate (IAM) of Naples, revealed a situation of serious irregularity, with workers employed illegally and numerous violations of safety regulations.
The operation, part of a national project against labor exploitation, saw the participation of IAM inspectors, Carabinieri from the Operational Nucleus of the Carabinieri Protection Group of the Southern Interregional Directorate and the Carabinieri Labor Inspectorate Nucleus, State Police officers, ASL personnel, Local Police and mediators from the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
The results of the operation are alarming:
Suspension of six business activities: one for employing illegal workers and five for illegal work and safety violations.
149 workers checked: all of non-EU origin.
62 workers employed illegally: of which 39 without a residence permit.
45 health and safety violations: including failure to assess risks, absence of the Risk Assessment Document (DVR), failure to carry out medical examinations and training, absence of the Head of the Prevention and Protection Service and failure to distribute personal protective equipment.
The “Alt Caporalato” operation highlights the persistence of the phenomenon of labor exploitation, which particularly affects migrant workers.
The authorities announced that the checks will continue in the coming months to combat illegality and protect workers' rights. The six companies involved will have to face the administrative and criminal consequences of the irregularities found.
