A car transformed into a goods depot and parked illegally in a space reserved for disabled people for over a month.
This is what happened in via Francesco Lomonaco, in the neighborhood Chiaia, near the Umberto I High School, where the deputy of the Green-Sinister Alliance, Francesco Emilio Borrelli, carried out an inspection on the evening of February 4 to verify the presence of illegal parking attendants.
Upon the residents' report, Borrelli identified the vehicle, which had been parked for weeks in a space reserved for disabled people, and requested the intervention of the police. The owner of the car, who arrived on site to remove it at the request of the parliamentarian, explained that the permit was registered to his mother-in-law, claiming that she had the right to occupy the space.
“According to residents, the car was being used as a storage space for goods to be sold at the market and had been parked there for over a month, preventing other disabled people from using the space,” Borrelli said.
“This is an improper use of public land and yellow parking spaces. If the vehicle is not actually used to transport the disabled person, the permit should be revoked.
Furthermore, it is legitimate to ask how it is possible that neither the traffic police nor the traffic wardens have noticed this situation for all this time. In a city where the authorities are absent, the risk is that anarchy will spread. We need more rigorous controls on the assignment and use of permits for the disabled, because the crafty and false invalids are increasingly numerous”.
