Naples – An episode of violence and robbery took place yesterday afternoon on board an Intercity train headed to Naples Central, coming from Rome Termini.

The protagonists of the incident, a 21-year-old Moroccan and a 16-year-old Neapolitan, ended up in handcuffs for aggravated improper robbery, personal injury and resisting a public official. The timely intervention of the Railway Police allowed the two young men to be stopped, who had already been reported by the train conductor for having robbed two female travellers.
The dynamics were reconstructed by the agents of the Campania Railway Police Department, who intervened after a report reached the Compartmental Operations Centre.
The two victims had fallen asleep during the trip and, upon waking up shortly before arriving at Naples Central, they realized that they had been deprived of a backpack and their respective cell phones.
The robbery on board the Intercity from Rome to Naples
Some passengers had pointed out to them the alleged perpetrators of the theft, who were in an adjacent carriage. However, the women, having reached the two, were attacked. In their panic, they activated the emergency brake, stopping the train and alerting the train conductor.
Upon arrival at Naples Central Station, the police attempted to stop the two suspects, who resisted and tried to flee. After a short chase, they were stopped and found in possession of the stolen backpack and phones.
At the end of the operations, the 21-year-old was transferred to the Poggioreale prison, while the minor was taken to the Nisida Juvenile Penal Institute. The episode is part of a series of targeted checks by the State Police to combat crimes in the railway sector and in adjacent areas, confirming the importance of a constant presence to guarantee the safety of passengers.
