Pagani mourns 19-year-old Daniela Gambardella, who was hit and killed in Rome: she dreamed of being an actress

The 72-year-old Roman man who yesterday afternoon, while driving his powerful Mercedes at high speed, hit and killed 19-year-old Daniela Gambardella is being investigated for road homicide.

The girl originally from Pagani, died instantly while crossing the street Laurentina, near the shopping center Maximo on the outskirts of Rome. The young woman, a student of the Ladies at Roma Tre University, she worked as a promoter for a telephone company and had just finished her shift when she was hit.

The rescue efforts were in vain: the 118 crew members tried for a long time to revive her, but there was nothing they could do for her.

The investigations

The accident occurred shortly after 13pm. The Fire Brigade intervened on site to extract the young woman's body, which remained trapped under the car, and the Local Police of the IX Eur Group, who began investigations to reconstruct the dynamics of the collision.

The officers acquired images from surveillance cameras, including those from the traffic light system, to verify whether the girl was crossing when the light was green. An eyewitness reportedly witnessed the scene.

A 72-year-old man was driving the Mercedes and stopped to provide assistance. In shock, he was taken to Sant'Eugenio Hospital, where he was tested for alcohol and drugs. He is now being investigated for road homicide.

The pain of the family

In the afternoon, the young woman's parents arrived in Rome to identify the body, which was transferred to the Policlinico di Tor Vergata, where the autopsy will be performed in the next few days.

Daniela had moved to the capital in September to pursue her dream of becoming an actress. Determined and brilliant, she had completed the exam session with excellent results. Between study and work, she was building a future, tragically shattered in a few moments on a busy street in Rome.
