Nine months after the tragic death of Andrea Prospero, the 19-year-old found lifeless last January 29 in his apartment in Perugia, the investigations of the Prosecutor's Office have led to the arrest of a young man living in the province of Rome. He is charged with instigation or aiding suicide.
Telegram Chat Incriminated: “Encouraged in Moments of Hesitation”
The analysis of a Telegram chat, defined as “particularly dramatic” by the Perugia prosecutor, Raffaele Cantone, was crucial to the issuance of the precautionary custody order. In this chat, Prospero exchanged messages with the suspect in the moments immediately preceding the intake of the drugs that proved fatal to him.
“Elements emerge from the chat that allow us to believe that the young man not only comforted and encouraged Prospero's idea of wanting to commit suicide, but also encouraged him in moments when he was hesitant,” Cantone explained. Furthermore, Prospero's interlocutor, after learning of the drug intake, would have been concerned exclusively with the risks of being identified, rather than alerting the emergency services.
Prospero's father: "I still have doubts, for me it's murder"
Michele Prospero, Andrea's father, in an interview with Tgr Abruzzo, expressed his doubts about the nature of his son's death: "Honestly, I still have doubts that he did it voluntarily or with the help of someone. I am still of the opinion that it was murder. Let's move forward, let's let the Prosecutor's Office work calmly, there will certainly be developments".
Afragola boy investigated for selling opiate drugs
In parallel with the arrest for incitement to suicide, the Perugia Prosecutor's Office has registered another young man, resident in Afragola, in the register of suspects, accused of supplying an opiate-type medicine. A search was carried out on him. The suspect is not charged with incitement to suicide because, according to investigators, he was unaware of Prospero's intentions.
