A Journey into Baroque Music
The Baroque Music Festival was conceived by the Carisal Foundation as part of “I Venerdì Musicali”, and accompanies the exhibition of Caravaggio’s “Presa di Cristo”, on display until March 23, 2025 at the Complesso San Michele in Salerno. President Domenico Credendino underlined the importance of the event, which is attracting an exceptional number of visitors, especially young people, helping to broaden the diffusion of the local cultural heritage. The concert on February 14, organized in collaboration with the “Concerti d'Estate di Villa Guariglia” under the technical direction of Olga Chieffi, offers an evening inspired by the themes of love and the opera “Amor omnia vincit” by Michelangelo Merisi. The ensemble will perform a program that explores the archetype of the lover through a musical narration and will play vocal and instrumental works by composers active in Italy in the early XNUMXth century.
Echoes of the 17th Century
A series of well-known pieces from the period will be part of the repertoire, including compositions by Giovanni Giacomo Gastoldi, Giulio Caccini and Claudio Monteverdi. The program also includes pieces by Giovanni Stefani, Stefano Landi and Andrea Falconieri, allowing us to explore the complex emotions of love through monody and historical instruments. The performance will culminate with Renata Fusco performing a work by Giuseppe Porsile, accompanied by the calascione, a typical instrument of southern Italy. The Caravaggio in Musica Festival represents a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the music and art of Caravaggio's era, combining the works of art with carefully curated musical performances. The aim is to offer the public an enriching cultural experience, which intertwines the beauty of notes with that of pictorial masterpieces.
