Giugliano – Illicit fuel trafficking fueled by counterfeit prepaid cards continues to be a plague in the North of Naples. During the night, the Carabinieri arrested two people caught illegally refueling gasoline cans at a service station.
The operation started in via San Francesco a Patria, at an Ip station, where two carabinieri off duty noticed suspicious movements. A man and a woman, Vincenzo Mallardo, 45, and his sister Elisa Mallardo, 39, busy filling several cans of fuel, were stopped after the intervention of the radiomobile section.
The two, brother and sister already known to the police, had with them four cloned fuel cards, for a total expenditure value of one thousand euros. At the time of the arrest, they had already withdrawn gasoline for 388 euros.
Arrested on charges of improper use and counterfeiting of payment instruments, the two are now awaiting trial. Investigations are continuing to trace the entire network of this illicit traffic.
