The clarinetist and pianist will present to the Italian public their CD “19th-Century Operatic Paraphrases for clarinet and 5” (Da Vinci Classic), celebrating the Neapolitan clarinet school. This public performance, with free admission, will be realized in collaboration with the Luigi Vanvitelli University.
A Tribute to the Clarinet Masters
The CD is a tribute to four famous composers-clarinetists: Ferdinando Sebastiani, Francesco Pontillo, Gaetano Lablanchi and Giacomo Miluccio. These artists, who have marked the musical scene of Naples, have collaborated as teachers and first soloists at the Orchestra del San Carlo, receiving wide recognition. Their influence has given birth to a clarinet school praised by composers such as Verdi, Donizetti, Rossini and Mercadante.
A Musical and Historical Journey
Music critic Stefano Valanzuolo, writing for _Il Mattino_, emphasized how Sartori and Imparato's musical project highlights the historical importance of this musical school. The journey of the two musicians begins with Ferdinando Sebastiani, the first clarinet professor at the Naples Conservatory, and extends to the second half of the twentieth century with his successors, all prominent artists even outside the theaters. The CD, in fact, proposes pieces that retain their operatic strength even away from the stage.
